🔊 Sensorineural Hearing Loss Most Common
Damage to the hair cells in the cochlea or the auditory nerve. Usually permanent. Caused by ageing (presbycusis), noise exposure, ototoxic medications or genetic factors.
🦻 Conductive Hearing Loss
Sound is blocked from reaching the inner ear — due to earwax, fluid in the middle ear, perforated eardrum, otosclerosis or ossicular chain damage.
